How Is One Saved?
How can one have eternal life? It is the same question as the above. Many religions and Christians are very confused when it comes to how one is saved. Some believe that we are saved by works alone; some believe that we are saved by faith alone; and some believe that we are saved by faith that works.
As Christians, we believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and He has done everything necessary for one’s salvation. Nevertheless, the assurance of salvation is not automatically granted to everyone that is born to earth. It is a provisional grace offered to whosoever believes in Jesus Christ… John 3:16. Hence, assurance of salvation is conditional. One of the conditions to have the assurance of salvation is – to believe in Jesus Christ. And to believe in Jesus Christ is to have faith in Him. The sinner has to accept the conditions to assurance of salvation stipulated by God, then he or she can be saved. Without meeting the conditions or the requirements, the assurance of salvation can never become fulfilled.
Let’s ask a few questions to provoke our minds to think deeper on this important topic of salvation to avoid contradicting the Scriptures.
1. Can one be saved without believing in Jesus Christ? No!
2. Can one be saved without confession of sins and repentance from sin? No!
3. Can one be saved without loving Jesus Christ? No!
4. Can one be saved without having faith in Jesus Christ? No!
5. Can one be saved without obedience to Jesus Christ? No!
6. Can one be saved by claiming to love God but does not obey God?  No!
7. Can one be saved by claiming to have faith in God but does not obey God? No!
What is the relationship between faith and works (or obedience)?
James 2:17 says, “Faith without works is dead, being alone.” And  James 2:24 says, “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”
Faith is demonstrated by obedience (or works). Without obedience (or works), faith is not a true faith. Faith and obedience go hand in hand. Faith produces obedience (or works).
[Works and Obedience are used interchagneably.]
Please take note of this - Obedience is the fruit of faith. Obedience is NOT the fruit of salvation.

The Scripture calls Abraham, the father of faith. Abraham’s faith was manifested by his works (obedience) in sacrificing Isaac as God asked him to do. God accepted Abraham’s faith because he obeyed HIM and sacrificed his only begotten son.  Abraham’s faith was accounted to him as righteous.  Genesis 22:18 says, “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”
Is one saved by faith alone or by works alone or by faith that works?
One is saved by faith that works. Jesus says in John 14:15,“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
If we really love God, we would keep ALL His commandments. Without keeping God’s commandments, we would not be saved. Our faith must be seen by our keeping of God’s commandments, and only then can salvation be assured.
Faith Alone without the keeping of God's Commandments is dead. Our faith must be seen by our works in order for salvation to be assured. Once saved is not always saved
