Can One Live Sinless?

TOPIC: Can One Live Sinless?

This is a subject that separates many churches and even Christians within the same denomination. And many Christians are still not sure. One's salvation can be at stake if he/she does not understand this subject well. Though we are not saved by knowledge, yet without true knowledge we can be deceived and miss out in eternal life since what you believe is what you are by lifestyle (behavior/character).

God loves the sinner but He hates sin. How long will God continue to love the sinner if he/she continues to sin against the Holy Spirit?

Will Godís love continue to save a sinner that continues to sin (to crucify Jesus Christ)? Or Is there a time that Godís love will cease to grant forgiveness to the sinner because the sinner continues to sin against the Holy Spirit? - [Hebrew 10:26]

1. Does God Expect Christians To Live A Sinless Life?

Matthew 5:48 - "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

If God commanded us to live a perfect life, does it not mean that He expects us to live a sinless life? It would not make any sense to live an imperfect life, would it? A life short from perfection of character will reap eternal death - [Romans 6:23].

2. Does God Expect Christians To Live Holy?

1 Peter 1:15 - "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; (16) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."

God is not asking us to be God. He is asking us to live holy, a Christlike character.

3. Does Jesus Christ Expect A Sinner to Go On Sinning Until Death?

John 8:11 - "And Jesus said unto her (Mary Magdalene), ìNeither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.î

How much is sin no more? .... it means, "not to sin again."

4. Can A Born Again Christian Live A Sinless Life?

1 John 3:9 - "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

If a person is born again, he/she does not commit sin. How long will he/she live a life without sin? As long as the seed (Jesus Christ) of God remains in him or her in the born again experience. He or she can fall back into sin when the Holy Spirit no longer lives within. But God does not expect the born again person to fall back into sin because of the provisions made to help one not to sin.

5. Why Is God Not Expecting A Born Again Christian To Fall Back Into Sin?

1 Corinthians 10:13 - "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

2 Corinthians 12:9 - "God's grace is sufficient for thee" ... to sustain thee from sin.

Jude 1:24 - "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"

Note: God has already made provisions for us to overcome all temptations

6. What Does A Person DO To Jesus Christ When He/She Falls Back Into Sin?

Hebrews 6:6 - "If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."

We crucify Christ afresh when we fall back into sin. God expects us to live a life without sin by His divine power so that we don't crucify Jesus Christ afresh.

7. Does God's Grace Allow Us To Keep Sinning?

Romans 6:1 - "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? (2) - God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? (2) - God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?"

God's grace forbids us to live in sin. When we sin, we are of the devil.

8. If we commit sin, then, whose side are we on?

1 John 3:8 - "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."

Those who commit sin are on the devil's side. Woe unto to those who teach that we cannot live a life without sin for they are on the devil's side too.

9. What would happen to someone who sins?

Ezekiel 18:20 ñ ìThe soul that sinneth, it shall die.î

Romans 6:23 ñìFor the wages of sin is death; Öî

God in His love forewarns us that sin will bring about eternal death as found in the two Scriptures above. It is obvious that God expects us to cease sinning. It doesnít make any sense at all for God to tell us that the wages of sin is eternal death, and yet not expect us to cease completely from sinning, does it?

10. Does the Bible give us some other Scriptures that tell us of Godís disapproval of sin?

Matthew 5:29 ñ ìAnd if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.î

Matthew 5:30 ñ ìAnd if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.î

11. Does God expect us to pluck our right eye and cut our right hand if we do sin or does God expect us to cease sinning?

Of course He expects us to cease sinning.

12. Who is the one that tells us that if we continue to sin we will still be saved?

The devil said to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:4 - And the serpent said unto the woman, ìYe shall not surely dieî This was the first lie said by the devil. Since then, this lie continues to be told through Satanís agent.

13. If you hear others say the following statements as listed below, know for sure that the devil is speaking through them.

a. We cannot live a life without sin.

b. We will always sin until the Lord comes again.

c. We have a fallen sinful nature and does not matter what we do, still we will never be able to live a perfect life without sin.

d. We will never be able to live a sinless life.

(e) A sinless life is impossible.

This is the voice of the devil echoing again through the serpent to Eve - Genesis 3:4.

14. Why Is This Subject So Important?

Without a perfect character, we cannot be resurrected in the first resurrection nor be translated when Jesus Christ returns the second time. A perfect character means - a life without sin, an undefiled life, a blameless life, a holy life, a  righteous life in Jesus Christ.
